This was a relatively small room with a tall order of stylistic and functional needs. The space needed to operate as a family friendly place where everyone could gather around the tv for movie nights, friends could hang out and enjoy a glass of wine and the room was required to be glamorous, and sophisticated with cultural elements that related to the homeowner's Somali culture, while also tying together an air of Art Deco and Hollywood Regency styles of other rooms in the house. The husband longed for a reclining sectional, and the wife wanted durable and stylish. I bridged the gap with this roomy royal blue, two- piece, motorized lounger couch. The couch features sleek motorized controls to extend the couch for evenings of movie- watching, and then retrieves the extra space when not in use. This was a great compromise for space! In order to create conversational seating and utilize every square inch of the room, two, burnt sienna swivel chairs were placed near the windows . These two swivel chairs paired beautifully with the rich royal blue couch, slate blue walls and specs of gold in the area rug to create a buoyant color pallet. The richness of the color pallet is tied together with varied throw pillows, cultural art and carefully curated decorative items. 1913 Historic Home- located in Boston-Edison Detroit.
